My Story
Butter Brown Bakehouse is a pop-up gluten-free bakery that specializes in sweets full of flavor, heart and soul. I started this small-batch bakery in June 2016 from my home. Within three months I was selling out of my baked goods at Bay Area events, catered socials at UC Berkeley and partnered with nonprofit organizations to serve the people of Oakland.
Although my baked goods are only available on a pop-up basis, I’m looking forward to growing my operation to give you the goods, while creating jobs and opportunities for Bay Area natives.

Mission
The mission of Butter Brown Bakehouse is to to fill a need for good gluten-free baked goods, while doing work that I love and uplifting people I love.
Vision
To touch the hearts of others one bite at time. When you buy a baked good from me, you’re helping my business grow so that I can empower and employ individuals from underrepresented communities.
Values
Good Food If it makes your toes ting, tantalizes your tastebuds, and you're willing to ruin a relationship over the last bite - it's good food. I take my time to craft sweet confections that are guaranteed to leave you craving for more.
Gluten-Free Always gluten-free, all the time. I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) at 15 and live a strict gluten-free diet to stay healthy. I’m passionate about creating treats that give traditional baked goods a run for their honey. #GlutenFreeGoodAF
Good For The Community As an East Oakland, I understand first-hand the impacts that community violence, gentrification, and now a global pandemic has had on the Oakland Black community. I’ve struggled with rising costs of living and launched Butter Brown Bakehouse to provide a sustainable side-income for myself. It’s my goal to expand this operation to help others with similar stories do the same.
